This is the balanced version of the Mogami mini starquad tonearm/turntable cable. It is suitable for connecting turntables with RCA outputs to balanced phono preamps with XLR inputs. The cable is available with two different earthing configurations / version in order to accommodate the requirements of the phono preamp design. Option 1 is configured with an external ground lead for connection to the phono preamp while option 2 achieves the ground connetion via the ground pins of the XLRs and it is not supplied with external ground wire. External ground connection at the turntable end is present on both versions.
This is a slim (4.8mm diameter) and very flexible version of the Mogami Starquad cables. The cable is suitable for turntables with a sensitive suspension system. It features 4 x 26AWG pure copper conductors in Cross-Linked Polyethylene and a dense spiral copper shield (73/0.12). The conductors are surrounded by filaments that further reduce microphonics. The cable is finished with a very flexible PVC jacket (4.8mm). This low capacitance tonearm cable assembly (62pF/m) has a red jacket (the reconstructed cable tails which have been finished using a flexible, black PVC cable jacket).
Our star-quad tonearm cables are professionally finished, running through a continuous length of conductors. We construct the cable in such a way that we maintain full, continuous shielding throughout its length, while keeping both the chassis ground and shield paths entirely isolated from the signal ground conductors enhancing the detail and maintaining a quite background.
The tails of this Mogami cable have been re-arranged into twisted pairs with added PTFE bedding insulation to maintain form and proximity, keeping capacitance and inductance at consisten levels. Dense braided copper shields have been applied on each tail with a direct connection to the chassis groound, sealed with a layer of Teflon and finished with a flexible PVC cable jacket as shown in the image below
